Dr. John T. Crawford to Receive Prestigious Honors at Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners Meeting

At the February meeting of the Board of County Commissioners, Dr. Crawford was presented with the Order of the Hornet in recognition of his outstanding achievements with the Greater Steps Scholars program.

Charlotte, NC (February 2024) — The Greater Steps Scholars program has provided post-secondary scholarships to 1,000 youth in Mecklenburg County. Additionally, Governor Roy Cooper's office will award him with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine in recognition of his more than 40 years of dedicated service to Mecklenburg County's youth.

Dr. Crawford's unwavering commitment to utilizing education to empower marginalized youth has had a significant and enduring effect on the community. The acknowledgment he will receive will serve as a testament to both his accomplishments and the value of supporting programs such as Greater Steps Scholars, which are essential in creating a more promising future for generations to come.
