Investing in the Greater Steps Scholars Program means transforming lives for marginalized youth in our community by providing access to and success through college and beyond.
Greater Steps Scholars is a fund under Foundation For The Carolinas, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We are 100% privately funded. Your donation provides meaningful personalized support to help students access and persist through a postsecondary education, graduate, and go far in life!
Each Scholar in the Greater Steps program receives a four-year scholarship plus individualized coaching, mentorship and career awareness. To invest in a Scholar, donors contribute between $1,500 and $4,000 annually for four years. Your support benefits an individual student who will update you each semester on their progress towards graduation.
One-time gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations help us ensure that the individual needs of our students are met. With your help, Greater Steps will provide ongoing end-to-end support services which make a crucial difference to our Scholars, contributing to their success in college and post-graduation.

Our goal is to equip Charlotte’s most under-resourced but deserving scholars with the necessities to succeed as they pursue higher education.
Despite receiving scholarships to access postsecondary education, many Greater Steps Scholars can’t sustain enrollment due to a lack of tools needed to succeed, including school supplies, bedding, and other basic toiletries - everything that a college student living in a dorm would need. Our students can achieve the greatest heights if they have the resources.
