			<description><![CDATA[<p><img src="https://greatersteps.org/images/HOEFENER_scholarship-2.jpg" /></p><p><span style="font-size: 14pt; line-height: 1.2em;"><em><strong>The Carole Ann Hoefener Scholarship Fund was made possible by a generous gift to the Charlotte Housing Authority Scholarship Endowment from the Estate of Carole Ann Hoefener after her death in 1999.</strong></em></span></p>
<p>Mrs. Hoefener was an architect who volunteered with dozens of community groups. She served on the Charlotte Housing Authority Board from 1989 until 1996, and was the chairperson of the board from 1992 through 1994.</p>

<ul class="item_list">
<li>Must be recipients of the Greater Steps Scholars Program;</li>
<li>Must be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university;</li>
<li>Must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale;</li>
<li>Must demonstrate financial need; and</li>
<li>Preference will be given to nominees who have expressed a career interest in architecture or a related field.</li>
